We love cooking with wine, sometimes we even put it in the food... and sometimes we forget about the food all together! For our first "Fermented Fruit Favourites" post we are going to go for our own, sadly not home grown by us (hopefully one day) but a wine that we are proud to say is Kenyan.
Leleshwa winery is relatively young in comparison to wineries world wide, however in recent years they have really upped their game, getting more confident with their products and standing in the market. We recently re-sampled the Sav Blanc they produce and were very impressed all round! It is very in keeping with what you would expect from a wine of this variety; fresh, crisp and a touch dry. They have also won two awards for this particular wine and if that doesn't impress you the price definitely will, incredibly affordable at under 1000/- per bottle, making it a great gift for friends from near and far to showcase what we have to offer.
Why not take it to the next step and pair it with a selection of Kenya's own Browns cheese, you could even try my Baked Camembert Recipe (coming soon!) they work wonderfully together!
As you can see from the pic, we didn't pair, our fingers were far to grubby to be nibbling; in fact we had just finished a successful day of tree planting in Naivasha, we planted 30 indigenous 2 year old saplings. Quite fittingly we enjoyed this bottle amongst the lelshwa!
