I was lucky enough to grow up in the remote Lamu Archipelago, of northern Kenya, surrounded by the vast Indian Ocean. I was raised in Peponi Hotel, a family run hotel in the small fishing village of Shella.
Growing up here allowed incredible freedom for exploration; untouched beaches, under the waves or a drift on the deep ocean and even weaving between the narrow, ancient streets of the historical settlements of Lamu. This upbringing has sparked my interest in adventure, life on and in the ocean, the numerous, fascinating cultures of the world and their delicious cuisines, and most importantly protecting this wonderful planet we call home.

When I am asked, what do you do? The easiest response is "I juggle"
I have worked in hospitality from a young age, and still do. In
2013 I was introduced to the world of underwater
filmmaking, by my husband Jahawi Bertolli, since then I
have been developing my skills as a photographer and
filmmaker as well as focusing on the impact our films
can make through encouraging ocean conservation.
Art in many forms has been a consistent passion of
mine which has resulted in the creation of a line
of colouring books among many other things.
